hey

i recently experimented with this, and copied a address of a machine connected to the same router

this makes your machine appear as if it has been turned off on the router and changes to the same ip address as the true computer that mac address belongs to

this software is command line based and is called 'MACShift' and is available on MAC, Linux and Windows computers

mac address spoofing is a problem with networks, it allows your computer to appear to every single computer to be another computer

this is how hackers can intercept all traffic and every communication on a network connection

Yeah it is a pretty big problem, however, how would you get someone's mac
on the same network as you? I would assume you could just do an arp request?

Like ping 192.168.0.121
then arp -a would display the mac according to that address?

you can experiment using cain&abel

that gets the mac address, and you can perform a MITM/Man In The Middle attack

use something like wireshark to see all of the data between the two computers

for instance, using c&b, you can tell a host i.e. 192.168.0.5 that you are 192.168.0.1 and vice versa so that all data gets sent to you first and you can read the data

Cain and Abel is for windows only, is there anything that can do it as easily as c'n'a ?
