Nmap - The most advanced scanner.

Hello there,

If you haven't tried nmap yet, you really should cause it's imho the best
You can get it off http://insecure.org/ , and of course it both works on
windows and linux, thus you can get the source of it too if you want to.

If you use it correct, it can also be quite fast and reliable, though setting
the timer function outside your local net to higher than T4 (command setting),
might make your scan drop packets unwanted, which you don't want

Try it out, it's free: http://insecure.org/

Yes it rocks and it has been used in a variety of movies ;) (in Matrix: Reloaded as well)

Re: Nmap - The most advanced scanner.

I have nmap and it looks amazing. I believe I got it from installing WinPcap on my machine. However, I have been looking into the vista problems for nmap and still can't find a solution...I've modified the source code and everything but i get stuck on an inft_loop() on vista. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D

Yeah, I really like nmap too. I haven't gotten the hang of all it's uses, but I guess it'll come some day ;)

Fyodor tool is one of my favourite tools, a security application that any security professional should have on their pocket.
I specially use it to OS/Web server fingerprint and port scan.
