Backdoors.

So yes, another set of newb questions, I'm completely unfamiliar with the term backdoors until recently and I ask the following:

Can they be removed?
Are they picked up by antiviruses and antispyware?
How do you locate them?
Or are they simply the old name for trojans?

Re: Backdoors.

More newb questions:

If a backdoor is already installed on your computer, can any anti virus or spyware programs remove it?

I'm using a combination of Zonealarm security suite and Spybot S&D, are they outdated or outdone by a large margin by newer programs now? I've had them for years and they served me well.

Re: Backdoors.

I'd recommend Kaspersky or BitDefender, only problem is that if it's custom
coded then YOU gotta hunt down the code and if it's a rootkit that isn't well
known.. Well then you're in big trouble xD

Re: Backdoors.

Well, I've installed this but denied all internet access from this program, then later uninstalled it.

Tell me, did I land myself in trouble due to misinformation? >.>

Re: Backdoors.

Kaspersky doesn't detect it either it seems =\

Just in case I've ran my anti virus and spyware for deep scans, and nothing turned up.
